Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a one day visit to Gujarat to launch ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ programme on Friday. He will also flag off a ‘Dandi Yatra’ from Sabarmati Ashram on the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s famous Dandi march, reports Ahmedabad Mirror.
The ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ programme will be celebrated on a large-scale to mark 75 years of India’s Independence. The programme will conduct 75 Mahotsav events that will be held during 75 weeks across the country.
PM Modi in a webinar addressing the National Committee said that the aim of the programme is to showcase the glorious past and new development of the country, and to pay tribute to all the freedom fighters including those who did not receive much attention in the pages of history and tell the life story to the citizens.
A large number of people have been invited to participate in the ‘Dandi yatra’ which the PM will flag. Also, the chief ministers of all BJP ruled states along with many Union ministers and party leaders will participate in the other yatras which will be held in various places. Patriotic songs, plays and dance performances wll also be organized in these events.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi told the press that PM Modi wanted to make a statement in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday regarding the ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ programme, but even though Speaker of the House had given the permission, he was unable to make statement due to constant disruption by the members of Congress party. It was reported that all parties agreed to it, except the Congress.
