Howrah City Police Deputy Commissioner of Police Ajeet Singh Yadav was injured on Tuesday (17 December) while he was leading a police force to arrest those involved in violent anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests who were hiding at the Sankrail railway station, India Today has reported.
The senior police officer was injured in both his legs via splinters from a bomb hurled at him. He was later also assaulted by the violent protesters and also suffered a head injury.
He was admitted to a private hospital and was later released after treatment.
Incidentally, various police officials have been injured in so-called peaceful protests against the CAA, while also getting branded as oppressors by their critics.
