After recently announcing his entry into politics, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth has extended his support for ‘One Nation One Poll’ proposal which seeks to conduct simultaneous polls for Lok Sabha as well as state assemblies, Times of India has reported.
“Holding elections for both Lok Sabha and state assemblies together will be a good move and everyone should welcome it. It will help save a lot of time, money and efforts. I hope all the political parties appreciate the advantage and extend their support,” the actor is quoted to have said in a press conference.
The idea of a simultaneous polls has been backed by several political leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The actor has also supported the Chennai-Salem Greenfield expressway. “Big projects like these are needed for the economic development of the state. Everyone is happy to accuse the state government. But projects need to be implemented and this government too has been doing that,” Rajnikanth has said.
The actor also credited Tamil Nadu Education Minister K A Sengottaiyan for bringing in major reforms in the education system while saying that the education system in Tamil Nadu is far better than many other states.
Sengottaiyan has introduced state board exams for class XI and announced a schedule for revising higher secondary syllabus after a gap of 12 years among other measures. The reforms are aimed at helping Tamil Nadu government students become competitive at the national level, with an eye on the NEET entrance exam.
