Rajnath Singh Slams ‘Hindu Pakistan’ Rhetoric During His #NoConfidenceMotion Speech

Home Minister Rajnath Singh put up a spirited defence of the government during his speech in Parliament during the No confidence motion. He claimed that only a poor mother's child was competent to address the problems of the poor and highlighted the achievements of the government during his extensive address.

Singh began his speech with a  reference to a "Hum Do Hamara Do" comment made 30 years ago by Rajiv Gandhi. Singh claimed that the tables had turned and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has the full majority in the house. Though no single party had the majority, they have joined to move this no-confidence motion, he added. "Parties who have moved this motion do not have a clue about public mood. During ten years of UPA rule, we never felt that need to move no confidence motion because we were clear that the Congress led government had the full majority", the home minister added.

Singh said that his party was  clear about the importance of the opposition. "Thus we have agreed to the motion and decided to debate the motion", he added. He reiterated that BJP was the only non Congress party which has got full majority. "People have agreed to give up subsidy on LPG and AC train tickets upon the request of PM. Are you questioning the faith of people on such a leader?", he questioned. Singh claimed that the parties which have moved the no confidence motion have no confidence on each other. As far as leadership of this coaltion is concerned, we must understand that there are many contenders, he remarked.

"The rise of Indian economy should be congratulated by all the parties. I am also a student of economics and I believe that India will be among top three economies of the world by 2030. All economic indicators which decide the condition of our economy are under control. 130 mobile factories including the world's largest have been set up in India. Four years back we had less than three mobile factories in India," he commented.

Singh took on Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge's claim that democracy is existing in India only because of Congress. He mentioned that democracy had existed in the 'Anubhava Mandap' during the period of Basavanna and Thanjavur's local committee's.

While speaking on mob lynchings, Singh sought the support of all parties to combat the menace. He assured them about a separate law for addressing the problem. But he said that the biggest mob lynchings had happened during 1984 Sikh riots. He claimed that the comments on Hindu Taliban and Hindu Pakistan made were highly condemn-able. The Home Minister did not refer directly to Congress MP Shashi Tharoor who had popularised the phrases in recent times.

While addressing the issue of Andhra Pradesh's special status, he cited several projects implemented by the centre to the state. He cited several statistics regarding the central funds divulged to the state after 14th Finance Commission. He asked the representatives of the state to implement these projects and set aside the demand for special category state.
