RBI Relaxes Withdrawal Limits: People Can Now Withdraw Rs 10,000 Per Day

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today (17 January) announced that it had enhanced the daily withdrawal limit at ATMs to Rs 10,000 per card per day. In a circular addressed to the heads of various banks across the country, the RBI has announced two enhancements on withdrawals.

Withdrawal limits at ATMs, while enhanced to Rs 10,000 from the earlier Rs 4,500 will continue to operate under the existing weekly limit, which had earlier been fixed at Rs 24,000. Withdrawals for current accounts has been increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,00,000 per week and extends to overdraft and cash credit accounts.

No other changes have been announced, with the RBI stating that the relaxations provided on 28 November 2016 will continue to be in effect.
