Rohingyas Found Migrating From North-East To Kerala, Indian Railways Orders RPF To Track And Detain Them

Receiving inputs from Railway Board, Southern Railway has dispatched the Reserved Police Force (RPF) units to observe the movements of the Rohingya immigrants travelling from northeastern states to Kerala.

If the Rohingyas are to be found, they have been asked to be handed over to the local police. The railway board has already indicated that they are a security risk.

A letter has enlisted 14 trains starting from Bengal and Assam to Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The letter has been drafted and sent by the chief security commissioner of Southern Railways to the divisional security commissioners at Chennai, Salem, Trivandrum, Palaghat etc on Wednesday (26 September).

A RPF officer said the alert spoke exclusively about Rohingya movement from the northeast to Kerala.

The letter has given a list of 14 trains originating from states such as West Bengal and Assam with destinations spread across Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Trains list includes Santragachi-Chennai Central Antyodaya Express, Howrah-Kanyakumari Express, Howrah Mail, Guwahati-Trivandrum Superfast Express, and Shalimar-Trivandrum Express, reported Times of India.
