The Supreme Court has given the National Testing Agency (NTA) the green light to go about holding another National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET)- UG on 20 May for those students who were unable to make it to their exam centres on 5 May due to the delay of Hampi Express on the route to Bengaluru, reports Deccan Herald.
Also kept in consideration were the students affected cyclone Fani in Odisha and West Bengal. 54 centres in Odisha were unable to hold the NEET- UG exam due to the cyclone, while one college in Silliguri, West Bengal was also affected.
“We allow the applicants to conduct the NEET (UG), 2019 on 20.05.2019 in seven cities of Orissa, Bengaluru (Karnataka) and Siliguri (West Bengal),” the bench comprising of Justices S A Bobde and S Abdul Nazeer said.
The NTA had asked for the apex court’s permission to jointly declare the results of both the tests, the one conducted on 5 May and the one to be conducted on 20 May.
The NEET-UG exam is conducted to determine eligibility of medical candidates for MBBS courses in various colleges.
