Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Thursday (12 December) slammed the Congress party and its supporters for reportedly equating the Citizenship Amendment Bill with Fascism and Hitler.
Swamy in a tweet alleged that it was ironical for the Congress to make such statements as their party president Sonia Gandhi’s parents were keen followers of the Hitler and Mussolini regimes.
Swamy alleged that Sonia Gandhi’s father was a soldier in Hitler’s Wehrmacht who was captured as a prisoner of war in Russia. He later allegedly became a KGB agent.
Swamy added to his allegation by claiming that Sonia Gandhi’s mother was a volunteer in Italian dictator Benito Mussolini’s fascist youth wing.
The Citizenship Amendment Bill was comfortably passed by the Rajya Sabha despite heavy opposition by parties including the Congress and TMC.
