Delhi University panel has approved nine new courses including one on Disability Studies, and Literary Representations reports Press Trust of India.
Professor Hansraj Suman, the academic council member, said that the Standing Committee on academic matters approved that the course on Disability Studies and Literary Representations will be a part of masters course offered by the varsity’s English Department.
The committee has also approved the choice based credit system for Master of Arts (MA) courses. Suman mooted for the inclusion of views of Louis Braille and Helen Keller in the course and stressed that project work should be a part of it.
There was a discussion about ensuring that the students get to do an internship under the course so that they can also obtain employment.
The committee had also recommended including Dr BR Ambedkar’s writing in the course. The committee has necessitated usage of modern technologies and an audio-visual lab for teaching purposes. These recommendations will be forwarded to the Academic Council.
