Subramanian Swamy Wins Court Battle Against IIT Delhi; Varsity Directed To Pay Past Dues Of Rs 40-45 Lakh

A local court in Delhi has ruled in favour of BJP leader Subramanian Swamy in a dispute over past dues with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, directing the latter to pay the salary owed to him going back to between 1972-1991, reports The Print.

The amount to be paid is estimated at Rs 40 to 45 lakh, according to Swamy’s lawyer.

IIT Delhi's authorities have said the matter will further be decided by the institution’s Board of Governors.

“We will inform the board and let them further decide on what should be done,” said IIT-Delhi director V Ramagopal Rao. Prior to joining politics, Swamy taught economics at the institute for three years between 1969 to 1972, but what removed from his position due to disputes with the administration. In 1991, a Delhi court asked for him to be reinstated.

Swamy was triumphant about his court victory on Twitter, and said this case should be an example to “all perverts in the academic world.”
