Swamy Presents Proof That He Is Party To The Ram Mandir Case

BySwarajya Staff

Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Subramanian Swamy has been declared as a party to the Ayodhya-Babri Masjid case by the Supreme Court. This allows the Bharatiya Janata Party leader to press for an early hearing of the matter.

The Supreme Court had struck down Swamy’s appeal at the end of March as he was found not to be a party, as reported in Mint, in the main appeals against the 2010 Allahabad High Court verdict.

In its landmark ruling of 2010, the Allahabad High Court had ruled that the disputed land should be divided into three parts – one third to Ram Lalla, represented by the Hindu Mahasabha; one third to the Islamic Waqf Board; and the remaining third to the Nirmohi Akhara.

The Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha and the Sunni Waqf Board had, however, challenged the Court’s ruling in the Supreme Court. The appeals are yet to be heard.
