Online Food ordering and delivery service Swiggy said that it has launched Swiggy Stores on Tuesday (11 February), the Business Standard reports. The service moves beyond food delivery and starts delivering items across multiple categories.
Swiggy was founded in 2014 and currently connects consumers to over 60,000 restaurant partners in over 80 cities across the country. In a statement, Swiggy said that company would deliver “in categories such as fruits and vegetables, kiranas and supermarkets, florists, baby care, health and supplements among others.”
Further, the statement said that the latest addition would give merchant-partners unparalleled access to a combination of assets to reach its existing as well as new customers. Delivery partners will also ripe the benefits as they will be able to access additional source for income.
“Today's announcement takes Swiggy to categories beyond food, where we hope to deliver the same level of delightful experiences to consumers for their everyday needs,” CEO of Swiggy, Sriharsha Majety said while adding that it is the first milestone in the company’s vision to increase the quality of life for urban consumers by offering unparalleled convenience.
