Swine Flu Alert: Cases Rise To Over 1,000 In Delhi This Year,13 Deaths Reported By Hospitals

The number of swine flu patients is rapidly increasing in Delhi as one death and 124 fresh cases of Influenza A (H1N1) were recorded in the national capital on Tuesday (5 January). The new cases has increased the tally of people affected by the disease in the city this year to 1019, Business Standard has reported.

A latest report by the Delhi’s directorate general of health services (DGHS) has said that the city had recorded 895 positive cases of swine flue till Monday (4 January), including 712 adults and 183 children.

The DGHS report added that as many as 104 fresh cases of adults, 20 of children and one death was recorded on Tuesday (5 January). The Delhi government had reportedly not recorded any death due to swine flu till Monday (4 January).

However, two Centre-run hospitals in the city have reported 13 deaths due to swine flu this year. The Safdarjung hospital has recorded three deaths due to swine flu while Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) hospital has reported 10 fatalities.

The report cited officials as saying that nine out of ten people who died at RML hospital were from Delhi while one other was from outside the city.
