Tablighi Jamaat Members Threatening Doctors, Refusing Covid-19 Testing, Says LNJP Hospital Director; Police Deployed

Dr Kishore Singh, Director of Delhi’s Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital, in an interview with ANI has said that attendees of Tablighi Jamaat event are refusing to get tested and are threatening doctors, reports India TV News.

He further stated that these miscreants are objecting against testing and feel they don't need admission. Moreover, the activities are putting security of hospital staff at risk due to which police have been deployed around three blocks where they have been kept.

He further added, "We've 216 COVID-19 patients out of which 188 belong to one group (attendees of Tablighi Jamaat event). We had received reports of 24 patients from the group out of which 23 tested positive. This is alarming."

It should be noted that, Tablighi Jamaat congregations have emerged as one the biggest hotspots responsible for spreading Covid-19 from South China Sea to the Mediterranean. A gathering of 16,000 preachers, including over 1,500 foreigners, of Jamaat at the Sri Petaling mosque in Malaysia is credited with infecting 620 people in Malaysia as of 20 March which constituted two-thirds of total cases in that country.

Later, it was found that, Jamaatis gathered in Malaysia took the disease to half a dozen countries.

Additionally, as per a report, every sixth Covid-19 patient in India can be traced to the gathering of Tablighi Jamaat maulanas at Nizamuddin.
