TCS Recruitment Reaches Five-Year High; Over 30,000 Freshers Receive Job Offers In 2019

Tech employment in India continues to see healthy growth, with IT giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has given out more than 30,000 joining letters to freshers this year, with 12,356 of them having already joined the company in the April-June quarter, and the rest likely to join in the second quarter, reports Business Standard.

The recruitment figures this year mark a five-year high for the company. This takes the total number of employees at TCS to 436, 641, out of which women now constitute 36.41 per cent.

Commenting on the growing workforce at the company, it’s global head for Human Resources, Milind Lakkad, stated, “The vibrant, enriching workplace and best-In-class retention rates at TCS are a key competitive differentiator. Customers value the lower attrition because of results. In greater stability and fewer disruptions in our service delivery. Moreover, TCS account teams are better placed to retain the contextual knowledge gaIned over time, and use that to build differentiated solutions tailored to each customer's unique requirements."

TCS’s recruitment push is also backed by its growing profits; it’s net income in Q1 of FY2010 stood at Rs 8,131 crore, which is a rise of 10.8 per cent over the same period last year. On the back of strong growth, the company also issued a dividend of five rupees per share.
