The Central Zone of Indian Railways is conducting trial run of Tejas Express with two engines at a speed of 120 kilometres per hour between Mumbai and Goa, Financial Express has reported. This is faster than the current speed of 110 kilometres per hour. The train runs between Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus to Karmali Railway Station in Goa.

The Tejas Express was launched amid much fanfare in May 2017 as a premium offering of the Indian Railways. It is India’s first semi-high speed train and was equipped with state of the art facilities upon its inauguration.

The train had faced similar issues upon its launch but the Railways had hoped that the thefts and damage would come to a halt in time. However Railways was forced to take measures after the thefts continued.
