BySwarajya Staff

Electric mobility titan Tesla Motors has created new records of production and deliveries in 2019’s second quarter. Surpassing all expectations, the company manufactured 87,048 cars between April to June this year, and delivered 95,200 vehicles in the same time frame, reports Mint.

A vast chunk of these numbers were made up of Tesla’s well known luxury sedan, the Model 3, with the car’s production touching 72, 531 and its deliveries totaling 77,550.

"We made significant progress streamlining our global logistics and delivery operations at higher volumes, enabling cost efficiencies and improvements to our working capital position," the company said in a statement online.

Previously, reports were making the rounds that Tesla would not be able to achieve its quarterly targets, but the actual numbers from the company have proven its detractors wrong. The encouraging figures of Tesla production and deliveries will likely receive another boost upon the completion of its Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai, China, which will likely start production sometimes later this year.

Led by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, Tesla has fast emerged as a major electric vehicle (EV) challenger to traditional manufacturers of fossil fuel vehicles, rapidly gaining popularity as a clean automobile alternative which is also a class apart in terms of tech and quality.
