The Delhi Police’s special cell along with the Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested three suspected terrorists, reports The Hindu. The suspected terrorists, associated with the Islamic State in Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK), were found with hand grenades and weapons on them.

The deputy commissioner of police, special cell, Pramod Kushwah said the three men were arrested along with three hand grenades and two pistols from near a tourist information centre in Kothibagh near Srinagar in a joint operation between Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir’s police forces.

The men were identified as Tahir Ali Khan from Tral, Haris Mushtaq Khan from Budgam and Asif Suhail Nadaf. Another officer added police are questioning them. “They are being questioned to know motives and source of weapons,” he said.

The arrest has happened days after the Delhi police had put out alerts for two suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad operatives for reportedly sneaking into the city. Police said that the three suspects were planning to carry out a terror attack in the capital.

On 20 November, Delhi Police had released photograph of the suspected JeM operatives who could carry out a terror attack. The alert was based on an intelligence input in the wake of the Amritsar grenade attack which killed three people and injured 20 others.
