TRAI Launches Channel Selector Application: DTH And Cable Users Can See Individual Prices, Estimated Monthly Rental

BySwarajya Staff

In a boost to its new regulation regime, a new web application has been launched by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to simplify the channel selection process for cable and DTH users. The last date to migrate to a new cable of DTH package as per TRAI’s new rules is 31 January.

The Channel Selector Application will help the users optimize their choices while also informing them about the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) of the channels chosen, reports NDTV. The application curates a list of channels for the user to pick through a step-by-step process.

The new rules allow the users to pick the channels individually according to their budget and remove the possibility of them paying for channels which they did not choose but came with the package offered to them.

Users will have to fill in various personal details such as their state of residence, name, genre preference among others, after which, a curated list of channels will be shown for selection.

The application also has various filters such as language, broadcaster, HD/SD genre and price to enable users to comfortably select the channels they want to watch.

The latest application is useful as it is a place where users can go if they do not know the prices of the channels or their service providers have provided them false or incomplete information.
