Tripura All Set To Host The Princess of Thailand, Maha Chakri Sirindhorn On 27 November

Princess of Thailand, Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in her trip to India this month, will be reaching Tripura on 27 November. The princess will spend a day in the state and visit various historical and archaeological sites which include the 8th-century rock carvings in Unakoti, as reported by The Indian Express.

Media advisor Sanjay Mishra said, “the Thai Princess will come to India on November 25. She will reach Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Airport here on November 27 morning. She will be welcomed by CM Biplab Kumar Deb along with girls and boys of indigenous communities who will be dressed in the traditional attire.”

The princess is the second daughter of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the ninth monarch of Thailand known as ‘Rama IX’. An awarded Sanskrit scholar, the princess received Indira Gandhi Peace Prize in 2004 from the hands of APJ Abdul Kalam and the Padma Bhushan in 2017.

The state government has prepared an exclusive menu for the honoured guest which includes queen pineapple, carambola and cashew nuts, all grown in Tripura itself.

A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb, was held on Thursday evening in this regard. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary LK Gupta, Director General of Police Akhil Kumar Shukla and other officials.

The princess, reportedly, had earlier expressed an interest in visiting the three northeast Indian states – Tripura, Manipur and Mizoram during November. Chutintorn Gongsakdi, Thailand Ambassador to India communicated her wishes to the Tripura Chief Minister’s Office in September.
