One jawan from the Indian Army and another one from the Border Security Force (BSF) were martyred on Monday (1 May) as Pakistani troops violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) and fired rockets at a forward defence location (FDL) post of the BSF in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
"At about 08:30am, there was heavy firing from Pakistani (army) posts at BSF posts at LoC in Krishnagati sector of Poonch district with rockets and automatic weapons", a senior BSF official was quoted by the Times of India as saying.
Pakistani troops had violated the ceasefire in the same area on 19 April by resorting to mortar shelling and firing on Indian posts along the LoC.
The bodies of the dead jawans were mutilated heavily by the Pakistan army. The Northern Command of the Indian Army responded with a statement calling the act ‘despicable’ and that an appropriate response shall be given.
More details awaited.
