Twelve days after a 19-year-old woman from Rewari district of Haryana was gangraped, the state police has arrested two key accused in the case, including an Army man, who were on the run, The Tribune has reported
The accused, Pankaj and Manish, who were on the run, were arrested from Satnali in Mahendragarh district of Haryana.
Earlier, another key accused, identified as Nishu, was arrested by the state police. Two others, including a medical practitioner who examined the girl at the gangrape site, have also been arrested in connection with the incident.
The gangrape had received countrywide condemnation, including demand for Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar's resignation on moral grounds. The state government has been accused of failing to provide security to women.
The Haryana Police had set up a Special Investigation Team to investigate the case soon after it came to light.
The women, a school topper, was abducted at a bus stop in Kanina town in neighbouring Mahendragarh district on 12 September while she was on the way to a coaching class, the police had earlier said. She was allegedly drugged and gangraped at a room housing a tubewell for irrigation.
