‘Uncle Sam’ Pitroda Calls Indians “Monkeys” In Yet Another Top-Down Approach Towards Country

BySwarajya Staff

Just days after having called Middle Class as 'selfish', top advisor to Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Sam Pitroda is back in the news, and again for all the wrong reasons.

Pitroda said, “Indians are not using connectivity effectively. But you know it’s world over today, this is a new toy. So all of a sudden every monkey you have is given a new toy and they are fiddling with it. Okay.”

Calling Indians using mobile phones as ‘monkeys playing with a new toy’, he has sparked a new row. Days before, he had also brewed up a controversy by downplaying 26/11 Mumbai attacks, and later for doubting the Indian Air Force's (IAF) Balakot air strikes against terror bastions in Pakistan.

Drawing much ire, twitter took to storm over his statement, and large number of active users began to demand clarification on the subject from Congress party and its senior leaders.

Later on Pitroda issued a clarification by saying that his statement was misinterpreted. He said, "What I said was that if a monkey was given a mobile phone to use, what would be the difference between the monkey and us?”
