UP Cabinet Approves Raising Elderly Pension To Rs 500; 45 Lakh People To Benefit

The Uttar Pradesh (UP) Cabinet led by Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday (11 June) hiked the pension amounts for the elderly by Rs 100, reports The Hindu BusinesssLine.

Prior to the decision taken on Tuesday, senior citizens used to receive a pension amount of Rs 400 which would now increase to Rs 500. Over 45 lakh elderly population of the state will benefit from the move.

The Cabinet in its meeting also gave its approval for the demolition of over 76 houses which are in a bad shape. This would then pave way for the construction of an AIIMS in Rae Bareli by 2020.

Further the Cabinet also approved the sixth amendment in the rules (1961), allowing the setting up of micro-breweries in the state. The license fee for the same has been increased to Rs 2.5 lakh from the previous Rs 25,000 while the production capacity has been fixed at 600 litres a day and 2.1 lakh litres a year.
