‘Vidya Dawns Upon Kerala University’: CUSAT Allows Saraswati Puja In ‘Peaceful Manner’ Following Massive Protests

Amid backlash from social media, the Cochin University of Science and Technology on 7 February granted permission to conduct Saraswati Puja in a 'peaceful' manner, reports Business Standard.

Various students had earlier protested against the CUSAT authorities' decision not to grant permission to organise the religious function in the institution.

They had earlier sought permission to conduct Saraswati Puja at the campus, which however, was denied by the Vice Chancellor, saying that the institution is secular and they cannot permit to perform a religious function in the institution.

"Considering the protest of the students, a high-power committee of the CUSAT comprising Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar met and decided to grant permission to the students to organise the Saraswati puja on 10 February "in a peaceful" manner in the college campus," BS quoted sources saying.
