Visuals of what appeared to be a resignation letter of Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy went viral on social media late Monday evening (22 July), soon after which the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) issued a statement calling it fake, ANI has reported.

The letter addressed to Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala which was reportedly kept at Kumaraswamy’s table at the Vidhan Soudha read that the latter was resigning due to “personal reasons”. The letter also requests the Governor to dissolve Karnataka’s council of ministers effective today.

Besides the CMO, various Congress handles have also called the letter fake. Kumaraswamy himself has now issued a statement in the state assembly accusing unknown individuals of forging his signature and circulating the letter.

The drama in the state assembly meanwhile continues and Congress-JD(S) MLAs continue to delay the trust vote which was supposed to take place last Thursday.
