President Donald Trump, addressing members of the National Sheriffs’ Association on Wednesday, said that the US is in the process of designing a wall on its southern border with Mexico. He was there to talk about issues related to law enforcement and border security.
“The wall is getting designed right now,” Trump said. “A lot of people say, ‘oh, oh, Trump was only kidding with the wall. I wasn’t kidding. I don’t kid about things like that,” he added.
He further said that this wall will be a “great wall” for law enforcement agencies. He highlighted how walls have helped Israel maintain peace and tranquility on its borders.
“Just ask Israel about walls. Do walls work? Just ask Israel. They work, if it’s properly done. It’s time to dismantle the gangs terrorising our citizens. It is time to ensure every young American can be raised in an environment of decency, dignity, love and support,” he said.
This is probably the second time Trump cited Israel’s success in stopping illegal immigration using walls along the border. When Trump made a similar comparison last time and appreciated Israel’s effort, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “President Trump is right. I built a wall along Israel’s southern border. It stopped all illegal immigration. Great success. Great idea.”
