Kerala governor Arif Mohammad Khan was allegedly heckled by historian Irfan Habib during his inaugural address at the Indian History Congress, reports India Today.

The Kerala governor has shared a series of tweets in which he said that efforts were made to interrupt his speech on stage and from the audience during the Indian History Congress at Kannur.

In the video, historian Irfan Habib can be seen disrupting honourable governor’s address and questioning his rights to qoute Maulana Azad. To this, the governor replied, “is Maulana Azad your personal property?”

Governor Arif Mohammed Khan also faced protests from some delegates and students during his opening address. As per reports, Governor repeatedly said, "You have every right to protest. But you cannot shout me down."

The Governor later told the reporters that he actually came up with a prepared text and was not going to speak on the protests. He added that he was forced to respond as some speakers before him had mentioned about the CAA protests.

"I would not have spoken on this issue if it had not been raised it. Since you raised it, you are making political statements. I am under oath to protect, preserve and defend the Constitution", Governor said.
