The Indian delegation at the United Nations (UN) has delivered a befitting reply to Pakistani Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan Niazi at the UN General Assembly yesterday (27 September).
The reply was posted on Twitter by India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Syed Akbaruddin.
The Pakistani PM’s speech at the summit was laden with remarks like ‘Islamophobia’, ‘picking up the gun’ while denying the phrase most recently used by US President Trump ‘radical Islamic Terrorism’. Niazi instead contended that “there is only one Islam”.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted a word cloud of Niazi’s speech to highlight its jingoism.
In direct contrast with Niazi’s speech, PM Modi delivered an address speaking of the rapid advancements India had achieved in fields like cleanliness, hygiene, healthcare and financial inclusion among others.
The PM also quoted an over 3000-year old couplet in Tamil which spoke of engendering community feeling beyond physical and mental barriers. "Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir" the PM said, which means 'we belong to all places, and to everyone'.
