The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) of Chennai has turned the dream of business-class travel in trains into reality with the Tejas Express, reports the Financial Express. The luxury train will be an upgraded version of the 2017 Tejas Express train which travels between Mumbai and Goa.

The ‘Make in India’ Tejas Express luxury train takes aircraft-like comfort to another level. A video posted by Financial Express shows off the luxurious express train. The executive chair car coach has beige-coloured recliner seats in a two-plus-two configuration and can accommodate 56 passengers.

The train was flagged off on 30 November for the Egmore-Madurai route.

The snack table is in the hand rest, allowing more spacious and comfortable seating. There are personalised LCD screens for all passengers in front of them, and behind every seat, which will provide them various forms of entertainment with music, movies and others. For every seat, there is a USB charging point, a button to call for service train attendants and personalised reading lights.

The 2018 version also incorporates automatic sliding doors, lower seats compared to the 2017 version, apart from a swanky pantry and modular bio-vaccum washrooms. Further, there are CCTV cameras inside the coach and at the entrances. There is also a ‘Make in India’ touch-enabled light, which is integrated with mirrors in the bathroom. The coach also has an anti-graffiti vinyl wrapping which will maintain cleanliness.

The latest 23-coach express has been allotted to the Southern Railways. The train will travel between Madurai and Chennai Egmore. If tracks permit, the Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) based train can touch up to 160 kmph.
