NITI Aayog chief executive officer (CEO) Amitabh Kant on Thursday (3 October) shared a video on Twitter of a tourist guide from Madurai enthralling the foreign tourists by showing various postures of Indian classical dance.
“The best tourist guide I have come across in my career. Mr Prabhoo from Madurai,” Kant tweeted with a video of the guide.
Guides like Prabhoo are instrumental in attracting foreign as well as local tourists to the various Indian destinations. Not only do they provide valuable information to the tourists but also leave a positive impact on the Indian government’s ‘Incredible India’ international tourism campaign.
The Modi government has laid special emphasis on promoting tourism in India. The concerted efforts of the Centre have resulted in India becoming the only lower-middle-income country securing a place in the top 35 countries.
In the latest Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2019 published by World Economic Forum, India jumped to thirty-fourth position in 2018 compared to fortieth position in 2017.
