Watch: Social Distancing Norms Go For A Toss In Delhi, Chhattisgarh As Liquor Stores See Huge Crowds

BySwarajya Staff

Social distancing norms were flouted in various parts of the country as liquor stores today (4 May) opened in green and orange zones. Maharashtra government has also allowed the sale of liquor in red zones barring containment areas.

In many cases people were seen queuing up without leaving any space between them in parts of Delhi and Chhattisgarh, thus flouting the mandatory social distancing norms put in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

In the pictures shared from Rajnandgaon, huge crowds of people can be seen standng outside a liquor store without following any social distancing.

Similar scenes were witnessed in Delhi’s Kashmere Gate where people queued up without following the mandated norms, thus resulting in a lathi-charge from the police.

A line spanning over a kilometre was seen at the Desh Bandhu Gupta Road in Delhi. Many people were seen not keeping a required distance from one another in this queue.

Various social media users slammed this flouting of mandatory social distancing norms and expressed fears of lockdown gains being hampered as a result.
