WhatsApp has started working on the much-awaited dark mode and is expected to roll out the feature soon to all of its users. The feature has been recently spotted in an Android beta version of the social messaging platform.
According to a Firstpost report, WhatsApp, since last year, has been rumored to be working on the dark mode, which has its benefits like power efficiency and less strain on the eye.
The feature was first spotted and reported by WhatsApp beta testers WABetaInfo in the social messaging platform’s Android beta version 2.19.82. However, according to WABetaInfo report, currently the dark mode has only been implemented on the Settings page of the app.
Furthermore, the report also notes that the dark mode “won’t be OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) friendly but it’s based on a very dark grey colour.”
However, the release of the feature to all users is expected to take some time as it needs a lot of development.
According to the Firstpost report, Whatsapp, in this update, is reportedly also testing Forwarding Info and Frequently Forwarded features, which will give users details about how many times the message has been forwarded.
