Kulsoom Nawaz, 68, wife of former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif, is no more. She passed away in London on Tuesday (11 September) at Harley Street Clinic, where she was admitted for the past seven months. She was placed on life support at the hospital after her health deteriorated, reported ABP News.

The report adds that PM Imran Khan has expressed deep sorrow over her demise. "He said all facilities will be provided to the family and heirs of Kalsoom Nawaz as per law."
Kulsoom Nawaz, former first lady of Pakistan, is survived by her husband Nawaz Sharif and four children.

The Indian Express reported: "According to Pakistan media Geo TV, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif and her son, Hussain Nawaz, confirmed that the former first lady breathed her last at a clinic in London."

According to the same report, she had suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this year. "In 2017, she underwent a surgery to remove diseased lymph nodes after she was diagnosed with throat cancer. Following that, she has become weaker following multiple treatments and therapies."

Her husband and former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif and their daughter Maryam are currently lodged in a Rawalpindi jail. The two were arrested in Islamabad following their conviction by an anti-corruption court in July. They were sentenced to 10 years in prison.
