‘While We Are Fighting Coronavirus Globally, Pakistan Is Busy Exporting Terror’: Army Chief

Army Chief General MM Naravane on Friday (17 April) denounced Pakistan for exporting terror at a time when the world in battling the coronavirus crisis, reports Asian News International.

"While we are busy not only helping our own citizens but the rest of the world too by sending medical teams and exporting medicines. On the other hand, Pakistan is only exporting terror. This doesn't auger well," the Army Chief was quoted as saying as per the ANI report.

He further added, "It is very unfortunate that at a time when the whole world and India is fighting the pandemic, our neighbour continues to foment trouble for us."

The comment from the Army Chief came in the backdrop of several ceasefire violations by Pakistan in the LoC region.

Today itself, Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing and shelling on the LoC in J&K's Poonch district.

Defence ministry spokesman, Colonel Devender Anand told IANS: "At about 11 am today Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and mortars along the LoC in Qasba and Kirni sectors. The Indian army is retaliating befittingly."

Bomb disposal squads of the army defused nearly a dozen unexploded mortar shells in Mendhar area of Poonch on Thursday.

A girl and an elderly person were wounded and four houses damaged in Mendhar in Pakistan shelling on Wednesday.

Last week, India carried out precision targeting of terror launch pads, gun areas and ammunition dumps in Dudhniyal area in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

On 1 April, the Indian Army had killed five terrorists who had infiltrated from the Keran sector. The terrorists had used the same launch pad which was targeted and destroyed by the Army later on in Dudhniyal.
