Hindu pujaris have slammed Congress leader and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan for suggesting that gold should be taken from religious bodies for combating Coronavirus. They have said that before taking gold from temples, money should be taken from the accounts of Congress workers.
Chavan took to Twitter to express his views on the gold lying with religious trusts, hinting that it could be used during the "emergency" (the Covid situation).
This report quotes Chavan as saying that the government "must appropriate gold worth one trillion USD from all the trusts in an 'emergency' situation such as COVID-19."
Swami Paramhans, Tapaswi Chhawni said, "Before taking gold from Hindu temples, money should be taken to combat Coronavirus from Congress leaders who have amassed huge wealth since independence."
The report mentions Mahant Kamal Nayan Das, Uttaradhikari, Mani Ram Das Chavni alleging that the Congress leaders are 'anti-national'. He raised a question on Chavan's seeking to borrow money from trusts and 'not from mosques and churches'.
