Swaraj India party president Yogendra Yadav on Thursday (27 June) announced that his party will contest all 90 assembly seats in Haryana, where elections are due later this year reports The Hindu.

Yogendra Yadav who came into national prominence as a psephologist and political analyst was also once member of the national executive of the Aam Aadmi Party and after being voted out, formed Swaraj India with Prashant Bhushan, Anand Kumar (sociologist) and Ajit Jha.

He said that the party had entered politics to change the established practices and stated that, “Over the last four years, Swaraj Abhiyan and Swaraj India have been raising the issues of agrarian distress, unemployment and corruption. It was because of Swaraj India’s struggle that government procurement of bajra and mustard increased in Haryana.”

Yadav added that instead of issuing a manifesto, his party would come out with an ‘Imanpatra’ which would contain policy proposals.

Swaraj India’s State president Rajeev Godara criticised both the Congress and the BJP and said there is a political vacuum in Haryana and said that the employment rate had decline and farmers were unable to receive the minimum support price.
