‘You Do Not Have Faith In The Judiciary, How Can We Hear You’: SC Bench While Hearing Prashant Bhushan’s Petition

Supreme Court judge Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul on Monday (27 April) slammed senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan while hearing his plea seeking a directive for the government to allow migrant workers to return to their native place, Live Law has reported.

During the course of the hearing Justice Kaul said that Bhushan casts aspersions on the judiciary whenever he does not get a favourable relief and added that, “You don't have faith on us. How can we hear you. An order can always be criticised."

Later when Bhushan claimed that the court was accepting the government’s claims without verification, Justice Kaul retorted, “You don't have faith in the judiciary! You say that you are with this institution for 30 years. You know some orders are favourable, some are not. You should not have said such things”.

Bhushan was also criticised by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta - appearing for the government who said that every time Bhushan loses a cases he goes to (the court’s) lawns and calls it a black day.

“You cannot run government as a PIL petitioner!”, the Solicitor General added.

When Bhushan demanded that the government allows inter-state transport for migrants to return back home, the Solicitor General interjected by saying that it is none of his business and the government will take a call to this regard.
