A young 26-year-old Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer Ankit Sharma has been killed by a stone-pelting mob in Northeast Delhi’s Chand Bagh area, his body was recovered from a drain, Hindustan Times has reported.
Sharma had joined the IB in 2017 and was posted in the MT department as a driver. As per a Jagran report, Sharma was a resident of Delhi’s Khazoori and was apprehended by a mob on Tuesday night (25 February) while he was returning from his duty.
The mob is then said to have brutally assaulted him which resulted in his death. The body was then allegedly dumped in a drain. It has now been recovered by the authorities and sent for a postmortem.
Sharma’s father who is a head constable with the IB, has claimed that his son was also shot by the rioters. The father added that their family was looking to get Ankit married.
This is the second man in uniform who has been killed by the Northeast Delhi rioters. A couple of day ago Delhi police constable Rattan Lal was killed by stone pelters in Delhi’s Maujpur.
