In an attempt to conserve the state’s mother language Telugu, Andhra Pradesh ruling party Telugu Desam Party has been urged to set up a Telugu Language Development Cooperation to conserve the language in the state reports The Hans.
Telugu Dandu founder president Paravasthu Phanisayana Suri demanded that the government set up a corporation to look in to conservation of the language, and lamented that English language has entrenched among youth so much that they tend to neglect their mother tongue.
He also slammed the government’s lukewarm efforts in conserving Telugu and for having failed to set up the board since the four years it has been in power. Under fire, the ruling party TDP has now assured that it will establish an exclusive body to conserve the Telugu language.
A large number of intellectuals, educationists and others paid rich tributes to Gidugu Rammorthy Pantulu at Telugu Talli statue in Vishakhapatnam on Wednesday (29 August) on the occasion of Pantulu’s birth anniversary. Pantulu had championed the cause of using a language used by the masses as opposed to a scholastic language.
