BJP’s Sanjeev Balyan Defeats RLD’s Ajit Singh In Muzaffarnagar To Emerge As Tallest Jat Leader

In a tough fight in Muzaffarnagar, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) Sanjeev Balyan has defeated Rashtriya Lok Dal’s Ajit Singh.
Balyan polled around 3.9 lakh or 51 per cent of the votes while Singh could only get 3.6 lakh or 47.5 per cent of the vote.
This is a significant victory for the BJP as the party has managed to defeat Singh in his stronghold of western Uttar Pradesh. Singh, son of Chaudhary Charan Singh, had served as the Minister of Civil Aviation between 2011 and 2014.
Issues such as the Balakot air strike is believe to have made an impact in this seat as it went to polls in the first phase.
Ajit Singh’s son Jayant Chaudhary is contesting from Bagpat, where he has a lead over BJP’s Satyapal Singh.
