According to the report, at the time of incident around 42 persons, including 30 Army personnel, were said to be in the building. The rescue teams, comprising of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), army personnel, state home guards and fire department, have reportedly pulled out 12 bodies during the ongoing rescue operations.

Those who died in the incident include eleven soldiers of fourth battalion of the Assam Regiment of the Indian Army and the wife of the restaurant owner.

So far, 11 civilians and 17 security personnel have been rescued while operations are still underway as few other jawans are feared to be trapped under the debris of the collapsed building. Those rescued have reportedly been admitted to a nearby hospital.

Meanwhile, the state Chief Minister Jairam Thakur visited the spot to take stock of the rescue efforts. The CM ordered an FIR against the owner of the restaurant and said that an enquiry will be conducted to find out the reasons behind the incident.
