Tamilian lyricist, poet and author Vairamuthu has responded against the sexual misconduct allegations made against him by multiple women including singer-cum-dubbing artiste Chinmayi Sriprada, without directly denying the charges against him.

In light of the raging #MeToo movement, a lot of allegations are coming out in the open as the victims take to social media platforms to share their experiences of alleged sexual misbehaviour by men in powerful positions. Bigwigs in the Tamil film industry such as Vairamuthu and Radha Ravi have been caught in the #MeToo storm and have been accused by women of taking advantage of their influence and power in the industry.

Chinmayi alleged that Vairamuthu sexually harassed her during a music programme in Switzerland. She said that her dubbing career was almost over after she came out with her allegations in the public. She also fears that the poet might put a stop to her singing career too as he is very influential in Kollywood.

Vairamuthu responded to the allegation with a tweet.

He wrote “Ruining and disgracing the reputation of well-known people has now become a fashion across the country. In recent times, I am being constantly humiliated. This is another one of them. I do not bother anything that is not truth. Only time will tell the truth”.

However, his tweet has resulted in some of his followers and trolls questioning him. Actor Kasturi tweeted in response: “Will time tell the truth? Your yourself can say? You are duty-bound to respond to Chinmayi’s allegation...”
