Uttarakhand: ‘Dev-Bhoomi’ To Develop 13 New Hill Stations To Cater To Rising Tourist Numbers

The nature has bestowed Uttarakhand with a landscape that attracts a lots of national and international tourists. The state in recent years have strived to attract even more tourists by opening up its tourism sector Chief Minister (CM) Trivendra Singh Rawat’s government wants to tap into the demand.
The CM, speaking at an investor summit at the Raipur International Stadium in Dehradun said that in order to give boost to tourism, the hill state is in the process of developing 13 new hill stations as the older hill stations like Nainital and Mussourie had reached saturation, The Tribune has reported.
The Prime Minister was also present at the summit. Rawat said that a detailed project plan is being prepared to develop infrastructure of these hill stations and budget has been earmarked for the project.
"From the point of view of tourism, 170-year-old Nainital and around 200-year-old Mussoorie have reached saturation point. We have started working on 13 new destinations in 13 districts. We have also identified the locations. A detailed project planning is being prepared to develop infrastructure. We have earmarked a budget for that," he said.
Rawat also emphasised on the new land reforms done by the state to remove the hurdles and help the investors to invest in Uttarakhand.
Prime Minister Modi, praising state government’s efforts, said that with Char Dhams, the Ganga, yoga, adventure sports and scenic beauty, Uttarakhand is a “complete tourism package”.
