Noida International Airport in Jewar reached a milestone on Friday (31 October), when its first calibration flight landed safely, indicating the final stage before the airport becomes operational, reported The Times of India.

The aircraft examined the airport's navigation and communication systems, guaranteeing that future flights meet world-class safety requirements.

A calibration flight is a specialised operation that ensures an airport's Instrument Landing System (ILS), radar, and air navigation equipment match international safety standards.

During the exercise, specially outfitted aircraft fly at various heights and angles to test the strength, stability, and precision of signals from ground systems.

Flight inspectors, technical engineers, and air traffic control (ATC) specialists work closely together during these tests.

Airports Authority of India’s calibration aircraft carry advanced measurement instruments that collect real-time data during the flight.

Technicians analyse this data meticulously to detect and correct any technical deviations, ensuring maximum system accuracy.

Dhirendra Singh, Jewar MLA, who was present at the event, described it as a historic achievement for Uttar Pradesh's economic growth, claiming that the airport will improve lives by improving connectivity and creating possibilities for citizens.

MLA Singh stated that years of hard effort, farmer cooperation, and administrative commitment had made the project a reality.

He also stated that the successful calibration flight confirms that construction is nearly finished and commercial operations will commence soon.

The occasion was attended by airport officials, engineering teams, and representatives from the Yamuna Authority.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation will now perform a final check before issuing operational permission.

"Jewar Airport is expected to energise industrial growth, tourism, education, and employment across western Uttar Pradesh and neighboring regions, making it a transformative hub for progress," Singh said.
