The BJP's national general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh and Uttar Pradesh in-charge Radha Mohan Singh were on a two-day visit to review the programmes and meetings with state party leaders ahead of the assembly polls next year.
Santhosh's visit to Lucknow comes after the appointment of Aravind Kumar Sharma, a former bureaucrat as BJP vice president, Uttar Pradesh.
Santhosh has reportedly made it clear that chief minister Yogi Adityanath will lead the BJP's mission to the 2022 assembly polls under the slogan 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas'. Adityanath's work and policies were praised in the meeting.
Meanwhile, Yogi Adityanath reportedly told ministers to talk about the work, policies, achievements of the government for 2022.
He added that people must know that the steps and programmes initiated and undertaken by their government are a first and that no other government has taken such initiatives in the state.
Among them are: transparency in providing employment to the youth, looking into the demands of teachers and other steps to make basic education stronger, zero tolerance on corruption, UP staying on the top in policy related ratings, improvement of lives in rural parts of the state among others.
Reportedly, a former president of the BJP expressed his disappointment before the state organisation. He was upset with the recent developments and asked why there were talks at all of cabinet expansion at a time when the state is to go to polls in 2022.
He reportedly further asked why speculations regarding cabinet expansion were not brought to a halt.
Reports say that the party organisation has said that the steps taken by the government should be communicated to the people in the state.
Santhosh is reported to have told the ministers in the Adityanath government that they should back the efforts of the government in the preparations for the election. He added that the work done by the government should be communicated to the people. He said that preparation work should be planned well.
Santhosh and Uttar Pradesh ‘prabhari’ (in charge) Radha Mohan Singh held meetings with the BJP leadership in the state, with the RSS and with members representing the Adityanath government. It was decided that the BJP will enter the electoral arena for 2022 on development, promises completed by the Adityanath government, on nationalism, and culture, work done in Kashi corridor, in Ayodhya, and Ram Mandir construction.
Discussions were also held on the upcoming Zila Panchayat elections in the state in which the party will take the final decision on the said two constituencies that BJP's ally Apna Dal will fight on.
