  • AAP termed on Monday that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s protest against drugs menace in Punjab as ridiculous
  • One can add silly and childishness to the ridiculous description of Rahul’s bravado

Sometimes the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) speaks right stuff. It made sense when the AAP termed on Monday that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s protest against drugs menace in Punjab as ridiculous. Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP is trying to spread its wings to Punjab and it alleged that the Congress was adopting double standards because it had failed to initiate any action on the issue when the matter was brought to the notice of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

One can add silly and childishness to the ridiculous description of Rahul’s bravado. The Congress vice president seems to be far away from reality as evident from his childish and ridiculous claim.

Rahul Gandhi on Monday led a protest in Jalandhar against the drug menace in Punjab and said that the problem would be resolved in a month if the party comes to power. The Congress leader needs to be serious. The drug menace in Punjab is deep routed and has corroded the social fabric of the border state so badly that it will take a generation to heal.

No section of the Punjab society has remained immune to this problem of drugs. The Bollywood film Udta Punjab talks about this disturbing situation and it is based on the menace of drugs in the state.

Rahul Gandhi said, “If Punjab needs a better future, there is no other way but to stop drug menace in the state. On one side there is the drug menace, and on the the other, there are law and order, unemployment issues.”

The Congress leader said that the party will remove the drug problem in a month if it came to power, adding that the party intended to give more authority to the police.

“Four years ago when I came to Punjab and urged the government to address the drug issue, I was mocked by the Akalis,” he added.

On Udta Punjab he said, “Movies are being banned, they have banned Udta Punjab as they still don’t want to accept the reality, because it is profitable for them.”
