A 35-year-old woman, identified as Sunita Kushwaha, was killed and her body set on fire by elder brother of the man she was previously in relationship with, reported Times of India.
The accused, Anwar Khan, hit the victim on the head with a stone and later burnt her body in Dihpara locality under Navgarh police station in Chhattisgarh.
Reportedly, the victim went to meet her ex-partner Zameer at his house on Sunday (3 November), but he was not present at the location. However, his elder brother Anwar picked up a fight with her there and the ghastly incident took place.
As per reports, a police official said, "Sunita and Zameer fell in love while working in a private firm in Bilaspur. However, Zameer later quit the job and moved back to Navagarh and married another woman, which enraged Sunita who continued to pressurise him for marriage.”
The police also added that the accused Anwar came to the police station after the incident and surrendered. The police have charged him with murder.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
