In a major boost for education sector in the State of Uttar Pradesh (UP), Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath announced on Friday (24 January) that his Government has decided to establish 18 Atal Residential Schools in the State, reports Asian News International (ANI).
The schools named after former prime minister (PM) Atal Bihari Vajpayee would be set up on the lines of Navodaya Vidyalaya and would provide free education and related facilities to the children of registered labourers from the State.
Making the announcement, CM Adityanath said, "Students interested in sports will be encouraged in sports. Along with this, the state government will lead the students towards self-reliance through skill development."
The announcement was made by CM Adityanath in the presence of State's Governor Anandi Ben Patel during the inauguration of a three-day colourful programme to mark the foundation of UP.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
