The Gujarat Health Department has denied media reports which claimed that a civil hospital in Ahmedabad had segregated Coronavirus patients on the basis of religion.
Media reports earlier in the day had claimed that two separate wards had been created for Hindu and Muslim Covid-19 patients based on a government decision.
The report quoted the superintendent of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital as saying that while generally wards are split up based on gender, in this case they have been split based on faith. This decision he said was taken by the government.
The story subsequently quoted the Ahmedabad District Magistrate and the Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister both of whom said they were not aware of any such government instruction.
Now in a PIB press release the Gujarat Health Department clarified that no segregation has been done in the civil hospital based on religion.
The Health Deptt.of Govt.of Gujarat has clarified that no segregation is being done in civil hospital on the basis of religion.Corona Patients are being treated based on symptoms, severity etc.and according to treating doctors' recommendations.
